Head out onto the show floor with a bit more confidence than the next person. Carl Henrickson, the winemaker at Little Washington Winery, will lead a conversation on the basics of wine tasting. Be fore-warned the mere mention of wine with Carl could subject you to long exhaustive monologues, expose you to extremely hot air and delay you indefinitely.

The Ultimate WineGeek Quiz

Can you name what varietal you are tasting without seeing the bottle? Take our ultimate winegeek quiz and prove how good you are. Wines will be bagged for blind tasting. A selection of different wine pairing foods will be paired with each taste. When the quiz is over, all with all the correct answers will be put into a hat for the drawing of a really nice prize!

Meet THE Winemaker!

Chat with Doug Fabbioli, one of Virginia's best (and possibly most eccentric) winemakers in a mad chemistry session as he tells you how he comes up with those marvelous award-nabber upper concoctions ... and gets certain weird things to grow on trees! We have no idea what he has planned for his session, but we do know whatever he does seems to turn out really well .... and he'll have some great wine for you to taste! Trust us, you will enjoy this!

Cigar Volante

Wine & Cigar Pairing

Get in on the PRESTEEEEEJ of pairing Volante cigars with Virginia wines. This seminar is definitely bound to be enlightening! We have heard there will be a cab pairing a port pairing and maybe a couple of other fun things! You will need to purchase a $6 cigar for this session. They will be available at the session.(the regulatory people are looking out for us again and will not allow us to give away cigars).

Sample artisan wines from unlikely places - Arizona, Idaho, Maryland, Michigan, New York, Southern Oregon and beyond as Sommelier Andrew Stover from OYA and SEI Restaurants guides an enlightening tasting tour through America's emerging wine regions. Stover holds a Sommelier Diploma from the International Sommelier Guild and a Certified Specialist of Wine Certification from the Society of Wine Educators. Participate in an exciting blind tasting as Virginia’s best varietals are pitted against their international competitors. Brandon Walsh of Hosted Wine Tasting will lead this informative and exciting session where you get to be the judge and jury. Come see how well, or not so well, Virginia takes on worldwide competition.

Participate in an exciting blind tasting as Virginia’s best varietals are pitted against their international competitors.

Guy Lambert of CBS Radio, Julie Wright, Fox 5's Traffic guru, and Brandon Walsh, wine writer for Examiner.com and owner of Hosted Wine Tasting will scout out some Virginia wines they think can win in a blind taste-off against other wine regions of the world and lead this informative and exciting session where you get to be the judge and jury in a blind taste test.

Come see how well, or not so well, Virginia wine takes on worldwide competition.

Wander back over to the Examiner Pavilion (by the D tent endzone) throughout the day for four exclusive

head-to-head comparison tastings from several Virginia wineries. This is your opportunity

to compare your favorite Virginia varietals in blind tastings side by side

and taste several blends ... the masterpieces of vino!

 

LADIES - Don't forget to bring out your fancy hats and enter our fancy hat contest!

DOORPRIZE - 42"  TVs  will be given away on both Saturday and Sunday at 4:00 or so.

You must be present to win and be able to take it home with you.

Exhibitors are not eligible to participate in the drawing.

Our tasting ticket Includes unlimited tastings from all participating wineries, a souvenir tasting glass, all seminars and polo matches to be played between the hours of 11am and 6pm Saturday or 11am and 5pm Sunday. Your ticket is good for one day. You can choose which day (Sep 10 or 11) you would like to attend. NOTE: If you have found a coupon, your discount will be taken off of the gate price of $40.
